On Telkom knockout results

Well, the Last 16 of the Telkom Knockout was nothing short of exciting! All the games made us sit on the edges of our seats. It was a really good weekend of football for us in the sense that all the games had goals. Take Kaizer Chiefs v Black Leopards game as an example – even in extra time, one couldn’t sit still because the game looked like it would produce the winner, up until it went into the penalty shootout. Virgil Vries, who is the second choice goalkeeper at Chiefs, did very well and was the hero on the day.

On the Soweto Derby

The Soweto Derby needs no introduction to the football fraternity. This is one game that has been bringing Mzansi and neighboring countries together. The FNB Stadium is abuzz on derby day and, looking at the players that both teams have at their disposal, we will be entertained come Saturday October 27. If you are not going to be at Soccer City this coming Saturday, then you’ll be missing out on the best day on the South African football calendar.

Message to the public

If you haven’t bought a ticket yet, please do not even go near the stadium. The tickets are sold out and there will be no tickets sold at the venue. The Absa Premiership is in partnership with the SAPS now and police will be there. Those who prey on supporters and make money out of them by selling them fake tickets will be caught and brought to justice. My plea to football supporters is that please always buy tickets early. We cannot overemphasize that. Let’s all please buy tickets early and arrive early at the stadium.
