Sundowns to subsidize Mohomi loan?

The latest news reaching the Siya crew is that Lucky Mohomi could be making a return to his former club.

Mohomi, who put pen to paper with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016, has been struggling for regular game-time under the mentorship of Head Coach Pitso Mosimane, with the Brazilians spoilt for choice in their midfield department.

Mohomi was linked with a move away from Sundowns during the past July/August transfer window, however, nothing materialised for the player.

“Free State Stars had been interested in signing Lucky Mohomi on loan from Sundowns, but the move didn’t happen after the club felt that bringing him from Sundowns would cost them. The player is on a big salary,” a source told the Siya crew in September this year

However, it seems that a move to Ea Lla Koto could be on the cards for the player in January next year, with Siya sources indicating that Sundowns are believed to be willing to subsidize a portion of Mohomi’s salary.

Indications are that Mohomi will be sent out on loan in order to get in the needed game-time, with further indications that the Brazilians may not be willing to transfer the player on a permanent basis.

Mohomi’s deal with Sundowns is set to come to an end on June 30 next year, with unconfirmed reports revealing that Masandawana have an added two-year option set in place on his contract.

Now, it remains to be seen whether a loan deal will be agreed to for Mohomi during the upcoming January transfer or whether the player will have continue fighting for game-time at the Chloorkopbased club.

Pirates to send Maphangule on loan?

News reaching the Siya crew is that Orlando Pirates could send Meshack Maphangule out on loan in January, once the transfer window opens.

Maphangule has struggled to hit the ground running at the Buccaneers since joining the Soweto giants from Black Leopards at the end of last season. The 27-year-old has made only two substitute appearances under coach Milutin Sredojevic – against Bloemfontein Celtic in August and against AmaZulu earlier this month.

With the likes of Ben Motshwari and Xola Mlambo doing well in Bucs’ midfield, and with the technical team unlikely to tamper with their winning formula for now, Maphangule could be loaned out to help him to get regular game- time elsewhere in the second half of the season, according to sources.

“Maphangule could be sent out on loan for the second half of the season. He is a good player but he is struggling for game time at Pirates this season. The club could allow him to go and play elsewhere from January and to come back at the end of the season,” said the source.

Maphangule joined Bucs on a three-year contract, after helping Leopards to promotion from the NFD last season.
