Solinas facing early pressure at Chiefs?

-

Word coming out of Naturena is that Kaizer Chiefs are evaluating their technical team, with indications that the club’s management are not completely happy with their current situation.

Coach Giovanni Solinas was announced as the Chiefs head coach in July, in an appointment that took the Amakhosi faithful by surprise. Now, three months later, Siya sources have indicated that Chiefs’ top management are not entirely satisfied with the Italian mentor.

According to one Siya source, Chiefs have already started to assess their options and indicated that the club could part ways with the coach if results do not go their way. In addition, as previously reported by the Siya crew, the source explained that some of the senior players at the club are not happy with the coach’s approach to the game.

A second source explained that Solinas’ coaching philosophy and methodology is being questioned by the club management, with indications that they are not convinced that he is the man to take the team forward.

Chiefs are currently sat in sev- enth place on the Absa Premiership table, with 14 points. After 11 games played in, they have only won three, while drawing five and recording three loses.

Last weekend Chiefs were defeated 2-1 by Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby, and questions have been raised on Solinas’ team selection, adding pressure to the coach in what is one of the hottest seats in African club football.

It is believed that if Chiefs do make a change at the helm, assistant coach Patrick Mabedi could also be facing the exit door.
