Billiat will run rings around SuperSport

-

Mike ‘Sporo’ Mangena – Kaizer Chiefs legend

“Well, even though Kaizer Chiefs have struggled against SuperSport United in the past, I think this time it will be a different story and I say this because the team is looking sharper this season as compared to previous seasons and I’m sure that the players will want to get closer to reaching the final of the competition. It has been too long and both the players and the supporters are desperate for silverware. But before we get ahead of ourselves, we need to cross this bridge of taking on SuperSport. This time around, if Chiefs have Khama Billiat in the game, I think he will have a major impact in the game. Having good attackers in the team has been key for Chiefs’ improved performances so far this season. These players need to realise that they are playing for a big team and there will always be pressure for them to deliver to the supporters. Whether you are a coach or a player, you have to adjust to the pressure that comes with being under the Kaizer Chiefs brand. If they don’t adjust to that pressure, then they will end up finding themselves under a lot of strain. So far, it seems like things are going on the right track for the team. For them, every game is like a cup final and they will treat this one the same way. They have had a good start as compared to previous seasons. Yes, they have stumbled here and there, but they are still on course. They signed well and they have Billiat who is a danger, and I’m sure that he will run rings around SuperSport’s defence. I see Chiefs walking away with a 2-1 win; if not, maybe a 2-0 win because Itumeleng Khune has been on fire between the sticks and

maybe this time around he’ll keep those shots from going into the back of the net. Against Orlando Pirates over the weekend, they were let down by their defence, which was disappointing. Their defence was just not up to scratch. They committed a lot of mistakes, but take nothing away from them because they have a good team. Now, they prepare to take on SuperSport, who are also struggling a bit – it’s a cup game and anything is possible. They have to go out there and redeem themselves. They have no other option. I still believe that Chiefs can turn the tables against SuperSport and they are playing at FNB Stadium, which is going to be good for them. It is a tough one though because there is pressure now on the coach (Giovanni Solinas) and the players to come back and win after letting the fans down over the weekend. They are the only

ones who can get themselves out of this hole they have put themselves in.”
