Chippa keen on Mabaso return?

-

The 2018/19 PSL season is approaching its halfway mark and Abel Mabaso is yet to make his official debut for Orlando Pirates, fol- lowing his move at the end of last season.

The utility player has been turning out for Pirates’ MultiChoice Diski Challenge team, on the back of a successful 2017/18 campaign where he amassed 30 starts and two substitute appearances for Chippa United in the PSL.

Bucs’ head coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, has previously indicated that the player will get his turn, pointing out that the 27-year-old will play once the technical team are satisfied with his level.

Bucs are still involved in the Telkom Knockout, and with the CAF Champions League and Nedbank Cup also coming up, Micho and his technical team will be content knowing that they have a squad with depth that will give them options once the schedule increases.

However, Mabaso has reportedly become frustrated with his lack of game-time, according to sources, and Chippa are said to be interested in seeing him return to the Eastern Cape, Cape where he would turn out for coach Eric Tinkler.

“Chippa is monitoring the situation with Mabaso with interest. The player did very well with the club and it comes as no surprise that the club is showing interest. Expect Chippa to be one of the clubs jumping at the opportunity to sign him, should he be made available for a loan move from Pirates,” said the source.

Mabaso’s versatility of playing at right back, centre-back or in central

midfield is an added bonus which Chippa will benefit from, if he does return.
