Wits & SSU to make surprise push for Chiefs star?

-

Word reaching the Siya crew is that both Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United could make a surprise move for Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, George Maluleka, in the upcoming transfer window.

‘Mido’ has started to play more regularly for coach Giovanni Solinas now after a tough start to the 2018/19 season due to injury, but it would appear that there are a couple of coaches that would like to see him playing his football elsewhere come next year.

According to Siya sources, the Clever Boys and Matsatsantsa a Pitori – Maluleka’s former club – have shown an interest in trying to bring the midfield man on board should the opportunity present itself, and could potentially engage with the Glamour Boys as the January transfer window approaches.

At this point in time, it remains to be seen whether Chiefs would be open to letting the 29-year-old leave the club – however, the fact that he has played 21+ games in each of the last four seasons would suggest that he is an important figure at the club despite his lack of games in the current campaign.

Maluleka has a contract with Chiefs that will run until 2020, meaning that – should Wits or SuperSport pursue his signature – a transfer fee or substantial swap deal will be required in order to twist the arm of Amakhosi management.

The crew did contact Chiefs for comment on the matter, but received no reply at the time of going to print. We will continue to monitor Maluleka’s situation as the weeks progress.
