Yorke linked to Chiefs?

-

The latest news reaching the Siya crew is that former Manchester United striker, Dwight Yorke, has been linked to Kaizer Chiefs, identified as a possible future head coach.

It was recently reported that Chiefs’ current head coach, Giovanni Solinas, is facing early pressure at the helm of the Soweto giants, though for the time being no panic buttons are being pushed, as the Italian still has a year-and-ahalf left to run on his contract with Chiefs.

However, the latest news reaching the Siya crew is that the 47-year-old Yorke is believed to have put up his hand for the Chiefs head coach role, should it become available in the future.

Two independent sources confirmed the news with the Siya crew, that there is a link between Chiefs and Yorke, though one source explained that the former United star’s salary demands could be too high, and that it could cause a stumbling block if they were to officially open talks.

According to Siya sources, the former Trinidad and Tobago international, who plied his trade for the likes of English Premier League giants Manchester United, Aston Villa and Blackburn, has been sounded s out, though there has been no official talks regarding a coaching role. Yorke recently made the rip to Mzansi where he atended the Soweto Derby, which took place on October 27, and indications are that he was hosted by Amakhosi.

No imminent exit is expected for Solinas, though the news filtering through suggests that Chiefs are assessing possible options for the future.

Don’t be surprised to see Yorke involved in a club ambassador role, should an appointment in the technical team not transpire.
