Downs lead the race for Sanoka?

-

Mamelodi Sundowns appear to be leading the race in the chase for the services of Pogiso Sanoka, who has become one of the PSL’s most sought after players in recent weeks.

Sanoka, 26, is a versatile defender that can play in any position at the back. He has started in all nine of Maritzburg United’s Absa Premiership matches so far this season and, according to Siya sources, the Brazilians have taken note of the player’s performances and have been impressed with some of his displays for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.

As confirmed by sources in the know, Downs are keen on land- ing Sanoka for their right back position, which coach Pitso Mosimane is said to be looking at strengthening. Sanoka’s name is said to have also made its way onto the wish list of Orlando Pirates, who have the likes of Abel Mabaso and Diamond Thopola linked with an exit from the club.

“Sundowns is leading the race for the services of Pogiso Sanoka. The club is expected to increase efforts to get the player from Maritzburg United. He is a utility player who can play in different positions in defence and in midfield,” said the source.

It was recently reported by the Siya crew that Downs are tracking Highlands Park’s Luckyboy Mokena and, with the Chloorkop-based side now also believed to be keen on Sanoka, the number of right backs linked to Sundowns is increasing as Mosimane is said to be keen on adding to the likes of Anele Ngcongca and Thapelo Morena in his squad.

Sanoka signed a new threeyear contract with the Team of Choice at the end of the season, which means that Sundowns or any other club interested in the 26-year-old would have to pay a transfer fee for his services.
