“HEADLESS CHICKENS”

-

I was watching the Kaizer Chiefs v Chippa United game and all that rang in my mind was that Mary J. Blige number “I’m Goin’ Down”. Can Chippa please borrow us Mr Siviwe Mpengesi at Naturena for a day-anda-half? I want to see something… Wire, Keiskammahoek When the season started, Kaizer Chiefs were spoiling us with Fantasy Football or, more closer to home, champagne football, but our technical team has resorted to boring football, which was Giovanni Solinas’ predecessor’s downfall. Siphelele Ntshangase had one bad day at the office against Orlando Pirates and now he’s a regular benchwarmer. What have Khama Billiat, Leonardo Castro, Dumisani Zuma and many more done in the last three games that warrants an automatic starting berth? Chiefs’ creativity is non-existent since the derby. They are not even creating good chances, yet the creator (Ntshangase) is rooted to the bench and doesn’t even come in as a sub. If Solinas continues in this fashion, we won’t defend him against the boo boys. Warned you have been. Makhado Nemalili, via email Giovanni Solinas and his technical team sometimes don’t know what they are doing. We played Chippa United knowing that Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates had drawn, but we failed to win. I was so disappointed with the dull draw. Had we won, we could have moved up the log, but our players were running like headless chickens for all of 90 minutes. Solinas needs to start winning games or else in January we will ask Doctor Khumalo to come and help us. Nemusunda Mmboniseni, Lion Park I’m getting the feeling that the coach has promised Khama Billiat a starting berth in the team. His first touch on the ball is out of sorts and his body language reflects a player who regrets signing up with Kaizer Chiefs. As for Leonardo Castro, same applies. Seems the two were spoiled by good players surrounding them at Mamelodi Sundowns, who made them look. Coach Giovanni Solinas shows the same leadership style as that of Steve Khompela – high tolerance for underperformance of players and subsequently making lame excuses for such. I am starting to lose confidence in this coach. As for the players, you are very unprofessional for being so unfit. Hendrick Ekstein does not deserve an extension of his contract. Lebogang Manyama needs to recover soon. Philani Zulu needs to work on his passing and reading of the game, as he loses the ball too many times. Is Itumeleng Khune getting old? He lost the passion. Bobby Motaung is lucky he is the chairman’s son, as he was going to get fired somewhere else for his performance. It’s a waste of time to even mention him. Leon White, via email If Kaizer Chiefs’ past two performances against Black Leopards and Chippa United are anything to go by, we are in for a big hiding in the upcoming derby. Our coach and players are still confused despite the early good league performances they dished out. The players lack confidence and there is no sense of urgency when attacking. The league is slowly but surely slipping out of our hands and winning the Telkom Knockout is a must to salvage some pride. Amos Tshukudu, Ga-Maria There’s nothing boring like watching Kaizer Chiefs playing. I don’t know whether Kaizer Motaung and Bobby Motaung are able to see that. Giovanni Solinas, I think you are good at MultiChoice Diski Challenge level because Kaizer Chiefs is too big for you. Ellias Matlala, Rethbiseng It should be pointedly said that the glimpses of hope that illuminated our belief during the earlier part of the season have drastically dimmed at Naturena. Our technical team, led by coach Giovanni Solinas doesn’t seem to know their story, further exacerbating the status quo that has besieged Amakhosi since 2014 after Stuart Baxter left. Coach Solinas appears like someone who’s overwhelmed at Kaizer Chiefs, thus sounds confused and sub- sequently fails to execute his duties, as he constantly rotate his players unnecessarily. How do you detect a winning combination of you willy-nilly rotates your team? It would be a good riddance if he can tender in his resignation, with Patrick Mabedi in tow. Loward Ziga-Khosa, Nkuri-Tomu I have been protecting Giovanni Solinas and asking the supporters to give him a chance, but I realise now that he will take Chiefs nowhere. There is no direction in the team and you don’t even know what type of football they are playing. It’s just a mess and he keeps rotating the team. His assistant, Patrick Mabedi, is like a doll next to him. Luvuyo Zideba, Cape Town
