KALABA EYEING PSL MOVE

-

The Siya crew can confirm that Zambia international Rainford Kalaba is keen on making a move to the PSL before hanging up his boots.

According to well-placed Siya sources, the 2012 AFCON winner, who has spent the last 10 seasons with DR Congo giants TP Mazembe, is keen on a move to Mzansi before calling it a day.

The crew has been informed that Kalaba has been in informal talks with a few clubs over a possible move, although nothing concrete has materialised as yet.

The 34-year-old has plied his trade at clubs in France, Portugal and Egypt during his playing days, and is hoping to make one last move before closing the curtain on his glorious career.

A source further revealed that the potential move is not motivated by money, but rather by his desire to experience the competition in the DStv Premiership.

Contacted for comment, the player’s representative, Samuel Celubra, Director of S.C Sports Agency, confirmed that he was looking to bring the player to South Africa.

“The player is keen on a move to the PSL as it is the biggest league on the continent, and he would like to prove himself here. The player still has some goals and he would like to finish his career in the PSL or abroad, but the PSL is number one on his radar. We’ve had some talks with a few clubs, but nothing has materialised. We do expect something to come in the future and when it does, he will grab it with both hands,” Celubra told the crew.

Kalaba’s influence on the Mazembe side has faded in recent times, which has seen the attacker make just one

appearance in the CAF Champions for coach Pamphile Mihayo Kazembe’s side. He is also yet to feature in the Linafoot League this campaign.

According to information made available to the crew, Kalaba’s contract with Mazembe comes to an end on 30 June 2021, and with no indication from the player’s camp that a renewal is on the cards, the attacker is looking to move on and secure a move to the PSL, which could be his last professional contract.
