Chiefs will have to pay compensation for Alexander

-

Word reaching the Siya crew is that Cole Alexander’s name has again come up within the Naturena corridors, as Kaizer Chiefs search for targets to beef up coach Gavin Hunt’s squad as soon as the FIFA ban is lifted.

The midfielder has previously been on the club’s radar, first during Stuart Baxter’s tenure and then late last year after Bidvest Wits’ top-flight status was sold to businessman Masala

@MasebeQina: Ben Motshwari own goal. Lungu did well there. 1-1.

@superjourno:

Awful penalties from Swallows players, but credit to TTM, they look a different team since ....

@KurtLaduma:

Bale’s left foot is swinging again. Some incredible finishes lately, that second one against Burnley was something else, the way he used the man in front of him as a screen.

@kappilinho:

Leverkusen’s run similar to Bosz at BVB. Fantastic start before a negative run he couldn’t stop and he got sacked. Yes, Leverkusen overperformed in the first half of the season, but they shouldn’t lose to teams like Essen or Young Boys, not with their wage bill and squad value! @LiamBekker: Liverpool would have been expected to win tonight but it’s an important three points to end the club’s poor run of form. Curtis Jones one of the standouts again with a well-taken goal and a performance that will have only enhanced his burgeoning reputation. #LFC

Zungu will turn 29 later this year and his next contract needs to factor in his long-term future – so staying at Rangers is ideal. It will extend his shop window in Europe and attract even bigger suitors if he is able to cement his place and play regularly under Gerrard.

The midfielder is now playing for his third club in Europe, since moving to Portugal in July 2016, and that is evidence of a trajectory in his career.

Mallorca were understood to have shown interest in Zungu again, before his move to Rangers, and may very well return to enquire about his services at the end of the season – though the Scottish giants will have the first option.

At his age, the Duduza-born player still has a few years in him to play at the highest level, while earning a big-money package to secure his financial future. And depending on how he does in the Scottish Premier

League, he could get even greater exposure abroad.

He now has something which Amiens didn’t offer in the three years that he was in France – a chance to shine on an even bigger stage in Europe via the Europa League, where Rangers are now in the round of 16 of the competition and are just four games away from winning the cup.

If they do, then Rangers are guaranteed a spot in the Champions League group stages regardless of where they finish in their domestic league.

This would be massive for Zungu’s career, and that is a primary focus for him!
