An open Bundesliga title race!

-

Bayern will need Lewandowski’s goals for the season run-in as they look to fight off RB Leipzig in the race for the league title. Julian Nagelsmann’s team are just two points behind the Bavarians after 23 gameweeks, setting the scene for an exciting finish. The two sides will meet on 3 April after playing to a spectacular 3-3 draw earlier in the campaign. Bayern will also face the likes of Dortmund (fifth) in the Der Klassiker next weekend, Wolfsburg (third), Union Berlin (seventh), Bayer Leverkusen (sixth) and Borussia Monchengladbach (ninth) in their last 11 games of the season.

It is a tough run-in, with teams surely having taken note of Bayern’s weaknesses in their recent 3-3 draw with Arminia Bielefeld and 2-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. Currently, Leipzig have their title hopes in their own hands, or rather feet, because if they beat Bayern, they could go one point above the record champions and sextuple winners. Bayern have won the past eight Bundesliga titles in a row. To put that into context, their title rivals this campaign, RB Leipzig, were still in Germany’s fourth division the last time the Bavarians did not lift the Meisterschale.

Dortmund will travel to the Allianz Arena for what promises to be an exciting Klassiker on Saturday. BVB will try to end their recent horror run in Munich after losing their past six successive Bundesliga games at the Allianz with a goal difference of 29-5. However, with Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho having hit top form, Bayern will be in for a tough game. Lewandowski’s former club, though, are among his favourite victims, with the Poland international having scored 19 goals in 22 games against BVB.
