Frosler’s potential Chiefs departure on hold

-

The Siya crew has been informed that talks over Reeve Frosler’s potential move abroad are now on hold until the end of the season.

It emerged in July last year that Nashville SC had shown interest in luring the Kaizer Chiefs utility player to the USA’s Major League Soccer (MLS), prior to the start of the 2020/21 season, though Chiefs were still waiting for a verdict on their FIFA ban appeal.

Frosler, sources said, was also being monitored by clubs in France and Germany.

The 23-year-old will enter the final year of his Amakhosi contract at the end of the campaign and if the club does not cash in on him, then they are then likely to open talks to extend his deal further to avoid losing him on a free in June 2022.

With the Tokyo Olympics rescheduled to later this year, it is expected that Frosler, who featured in the U20 World Cup in Japan four years ago, will make the final cut into coach David Notoane’s side.

His participation at the Games would enhance his opportunity to be seen and be on the radar of several other European scouts.

The MLS has since readjusted the league’s registration period for their new season and, according to FIFA, the transfer window there now opens today until July 1.

It’s ideal if Nashville still have hopes of landing Frosler this year, given that the Premier Soccer League season ends in May. Otherwise Frosler can wait for the Olympics to have a bigger pool of potential destinations, and with the FIFA ban lifted, Chiefs will have enough time to find a suitable replacement.
