Zulu lands on Big Three radar

-

The Siya crew can confirm that Richards Bay FC defender Veluyeke Zulu is subject to interest from the PSL’s Big Three clubs.

The Natal Rich Boys currently lead the way in the GladAfrica Championship and the lanky centre-back from Ulundi has bee a pillar of strength in the heart of their defence.

The 25-year-old, formerly on the books of Golden Arrows, has gained traction for his performances in coach Simo Dladla’s side, so much so that Siya sources have confirmed that Gauteng’s big hitters, in Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns, are monitoring his situation.

Although he has been a mainstay in the country’s second tier, it was Zulu’s performance in Richards Bay’s 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup where his prowess shone through.

According to Siya sources, Zulu has not only attracted local interest; it has been revealed that an unnamed Belgian team has also made enquiries into the player’s ava ab ty.

As it stands, the Siya crew understands that Richards Bay have first option of holding onto Zulu if they manage to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership next season. However, with Gauteng’s big hitters sniffing around, they could look to cash in on their star defender.

According to the information made available to the crew, indications are that Zulu’s contract with the KZN outfit ends in June 2021, though there is an option in place if they gain promotion

“He will most likely stay with Richards Bay if they gain promotion, but I won’t be surprised if I see him being taken by one of the country’s big teams. Even Europe is a possibility. There is interest in the player,” a source told the crew.
