Mamelodi is proud

Koketso Mmotong – Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger

-

“I met George while he was still very young and I used to go to training with him while I was still at Silver Stars. From a very young age, I never doubted his talent. I could tell that he was going to go far in football. So, I have always believed in his talent and encouraged him. Even when (Kaizer) Chiefs first spotted him, it was at my local tournament and he was that talent you could not ignore. I was not surprised that he ended up there at Chiefs. Things might have eventually turned sour eventually for him there, but he had some great moments. But obviously, things did not work at (Mamelodi) Sundowns. And I know how it can be like there, I played there. It is not easy. And I would meet him or call him to encourage him to keep fighting hard. I am so happy for him to see that he never gave up. He kept that fighting spirit and he is representing all of us in Mamelodi with pride in the US. You can never write him off. He will become big there. His mind is in the right place. He can only succeed with that attitude. It was good that he made this move to a completely new environment where nobody knew him and it is working out very well. I saw him the other day and he is looking good, training hard and sounding very determined to succeed. I think he still has about five years or even more in his feet and people must just watch out for him. He might still come back to the PSL at some point and I am sure should that happen, people will still experience the best of him. Mamelodi is proud.”
