• Following the dismissal of Bizana Pondo Chiefs’ head coach, Tshepo Motsoeneng, who was replaced by Julius Dube, half the GladAfrica Championship outfits have changed personnel. The hiring and firing all began with Michael Lukhubeni’s exit from Royal AM after just one match, followed by MacDonald Makhubedu’s sudden switch between Polokwane City and Sekhukhune United. We then saw Themba Sithole (Free State Stars), Vladislav Heric (Cape Town Spurs), Nasief Morris (Steenberg United) and Dylan Deane (Cape Town All Stars) also bite the dust.

With one incumbent telling Soccer Laduma, “I’m not officially announced, but for sure when I’m fired, you’ll be the first to record it,” this trend is likely to continue!

• Former Vasco da Gama goalkeeper, Steven Hoffman, is back in South Africa following a failed attempt to sign for a side in Kosovo. “Things didn’t work out in Europe, so I’m home now and can’t seem to find a club again,” he revealed.

• Royal AM have parted ways with ex-Orlando Pirates’ junior, Matjhaya Marks, who scored during a 2-2 draw with Steenberg in early January. “We had to release him,” said head coach Floyd Mogale. • An 18-year-old centre-back, Adrian Gertse, is attracting attention after moving to Maritzburg United’s DStv Diski Challenge side without touching either the ABC Motsepe League or GladAfrica Championship. “I went straight from Milano United’s development structures, where Brandon Truter coached me as an U13. At first, the new level was intense, but with the help of Tebogo Moloi’s coaching, I’ve adapted very quickly,” he said.
