MASUTHA EYEING NEXT MOVE
Despite being fired as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC head coach just a few weeks ago, the Siya crew can confirm that Joel Masutha has already started plotting his next move.
Masutha, who was initially hired as a technical director, was appointed somewhat shockingly as the club’s head coach replacing Norman Mapeza, who was set to take over the hot seat at the Premiership newbies in their maiden season in the topflight.
Masutha’s reign came to an abrupt end when the cub relieved him of his services last month after he managed just two wins in 17 matches in charge. He was replaced by Mpho Maleka and David Mathebula who have been at the helm of the side’s last few matches, although the Siya crew reported that Dylan Kerr is lined up as the club’s next coach, pending his work permit.
Now, as he eyes his next coaching stint, Masutha has revealed to the crew why he doesn’t mind taking a step down to the GladAfrica Championship if his next job requires him to do so.
“You know, there is one statement that Benni (McCarthy) always used to say. He said, ‘Beggars can’t be choosers,’ so I just need a job to come and work. It could be either in the GladAfrica Championship or in the DStv Premiership. I believe that I am up for the challenge, I’m strong enough, matured enough and experienced enough to take any job in those two leagues,” Masutha told the Siya crew.
Masutha was previously on the books of Black Leopards, Chippa United as well as the now-defunct Real Kings in the GladAfrica Championship.
