Johannes Lehlogonolo, you’ve asked what needs to be done in order to get South African football back to its best. You also asked about the clear chance that I missed against Orlando Pirates, with Williams Okpara beaten. It is simply to get the right people to do what is supposed to be done, forget about the egos and politics. We need to stop reacting like the old apartheid regime that suppressed Black people. If people understood that SAFA is not about individuals, it is about the nation, then something good would come out of it. Man, it has been 27 years since we last won a major tournament with our senior national team. When people talk and give constructive criticism, they’re being targeted and seen as someone who is badmouthing the association, therefore you’re not going to be considered for anything done by the association. Why are relevant people who have openly shared their views and recommendations being sidelined? What qualifies those who are there against those who are not? If you sit on the fence or run away from the questions, then you are a good boy that will always be considered because you are seen to be patriotic and angels. South African football will never change because of politics! We’re no longer a footballing nation but a group of politicians with big egos. We hate the truth and we’ve gone from a democratic footballing nation to a suppressive regime. I’m just answering your question. As for the missed chance against Pirates, excitement just got the better of me and that’s all. I really can’t explain it except to say I scored before I could really score. Obviously, coach Paul Dolezar was upset.
