Bucs sniff around as Arrows fear losing Ndwandwe

There is a growing fear down Durban South way that one of Golden Arrows’ trusted soldiers could be pushing for an exit from Abafana Bes’thende.

Soccer Laduma understands that the club has opened talks with Velemseni Ndwandwe in an attempt to tie him down beyond the end of this season when his contract is due to expire.

However, the 27-year old box-to-box midfield player valued at R17 million by Transfermarkt agency is said to have developed a longing to pursue his career elsewhere after literally spending his entire football career in Lamontville. Ndwandwe is a graduate of the KwaZuluNatal side’s development programme and has been a consistent performer almost every week that he has taken to the field and even won the Man of the Match award against Chippa United recently.

The Siya crew has been informed that both Orlando Pirates and the Chilli Boys are great admirers of the player and are watching proceedings down Lamontville way with keen interest.

Last year, Pule Mmodi turned down a contract extension and ended up signing for Kaizer Chiefs prior to the beginning of the current campaign, while Nkosinathi Sibisi had earlier been transferred to the Buccaneers.

It is believed Arrows value the player so much that they are not willing to lose him on a free after he had come up from their development structures. And in that case, they would rather demand a transfer fee during the January transfer window if they fail completely to convince him to extend his stay beyond the expiry of his deal in June 2024.
