Amakhosi hierarchy talking to Doctor?

-

The restructuring of the Kaizer Chiefs technical department in a ruthless shake-up following the sacking of Molefi Ntseki as head coach and the appointment of Cavin Johnson on an interim basis does not seem to have ended.

A section of the club’s supporters pelted the coach with missiles last Saturday following Amakhosi’s elimination from the Carling Knockout by AmaZulu FC, the third time this was happening this season. The former Bafana Bafana mentor was escorted from the pitch by members of the SAPS and consequently skipped the customary television post-match interview.

A day later, the guillotine fell heavily on the neck of Ntseki as well as his deputy Arthur Zwane, who was demoted to the youth structures, with another deputy – Dillon Sheppard – retaining his position as assistant to Johnson, who had been Head of Development until this week.

Information reaching this publication is that the Soweto giants are not yet done in their endeavour to further shake things up in their technical committee in an attempt to stop the rot.

Indications are that Chiefs are talking to the darling of South African football, Doctor Khumalo, to become an additional member of the technical committee.

The man popularly known as ‘16V’ has proved in recent comments during live television match analysis that he not only knows his onions, but has a perfect grasp of the demands of modern football after undergoing several coaching courses offered by both the South African Football Association and Confederation of African Football.

Nothing has been finalized yet with the former Bafana Bafana midfielder, but everybody knows that the blood of the legendary Doctor Khumalo, the long-time Soccer Laduma columnist, is Gold and sometimes Black and it will not take much to persuade him to arms!
