No January move to Downs for Mayo?

-

It appears Mamelodi Sundowns have not given up in their pursuit to secure the services of Khanyisa Mayo from Cape Town City, but the African Football League champions may need to wait a little longer to have the player on board.

The Citizens are determined to hold on to the former Richards Bay FC striker for at least another season, and the Siya crew understands that chances of securing former Kaizer Chiefs star Patrick Mayo’s son during the January transfer window are not too high at the moment.

The left-footed player has been a target for the Tshwane giants for some months now, with indications that they believe he can add quality to their strike force. Recently, Peter Shalulile was out recovering from injury, which left the Chloorkop-based side’s attack a little blunt, which is believed to be the reason they are looking at bringing in a marksman.

City regard Mayo as their most prized possession and while chairman John Comitis has been known to cash in when the time is right with his players, indications are that they will not let the player go during the

January transfer window.

The club, however, could listen to offers come end of the season, which would give them enough time to go into the market to find the perfect replacement for the 25-year-old.

The Bafana Bafana international has netted six goals in the DStv Premiership this season, with one assist to his name, and holds the honour of being the Citizens’ all-time Top Goalscorer. The Siya crew understands that Sundowns will make a serious attempt to bring him on board.
