TALKING TRANSFERS!

-

The article headlined, “Kaizer Chiefs’ current transfer hit rate”, in Soccer Laduma Issue No. 1353, refers. As a loyal fan of this big institution, I really fail to understand why these players fail at Naturena. From where I’m sitting, we can match any team pound for pound and still come out top, with the quality players we have. All the players we signed were on fire at their former clubs. Maybe the jersey is too heavy for them. In the past, even if Chiefs did poorly, you knew that at least two to three players would stand out and be in the national team and on awards’ lists, but that’s all history now. These players come with huge reputations, only to become flops when they arrive at the club. It takes a player with nerves of steel to make it in the famous Gold and Black colours. We can’t hire and fire coaches whilst the players are still failing to pull up their socks. I’m really worried. Danny “Madeenzo” Moreo, Segakwana village, Moruleng

I am happy Pirates have won their last two DStv Premierships matches against Swallows and Galaxy respectively. It’s good momentum for us heading towards the Afcon break as we should be in a better position on the log. We should ensure to make proper additions in the mid-season transfer window as we prepare for the last stretch of the campaign where we should aim as high as second place, seeing as though Sundowns look to have run away with first prize. As a Buccaneer, I wish to also see a “hits and misses” article on our transfers of the past two years just like the one done on Kaizer Chiefs in the last edition of this publication. We also want to know where exactly we have failed and how we can make our transfers better in order to be able to win the league title.

Ed: Hi Anesu. Thank you so much for writing in. You will be happy to know that we will be doing the Pirates

“hits and misses” in the new year and that’s something to look forward to.

ANNUS MIRABILIS…

Let me take this opportunity and wish everyone who is associated with the Soccer Laduma team a happy festive season ahead. I am talking about the management, journalists and of course even regular fellow MAKE YOUR POINT contributors of this great publication, as well as those who don’t write but always buy this Thursday soccer Bible as we know it. It was a great year for Sundowns I suppose, and for my team Pirates, the issue of inconsistency continues. As for our noisy neighbours Chiefs, the struggle continues. It was great reading a multiplicity of views on this platform and I appreciate everyone here. Let’s continue buying the paper because football still continues. Once a Pirate, Always a Pirate!
