club and we had to buy him back from Stellies if I’m not mistaken. Mind you, he came from our youth ranks, where he was using the name Zitha Macheke. I’m really worried about what is going on at Chiefs and I don’t see our team going back to the glory days anytime soon.

Kaizer Chiefs management should have expelled Itumeleng Khune because as a captain, it means that he is the one who was leading the rot. He is not a child or young boy, but he is a married man who should behave responsibly. Amakhosi have younger players and as from now onwards, he won’t be able to lead them. I suspect that is why Arthur Zwane was not fielding him because he knew something. Khune is earning a lot of money, yet he has the audacity to betray the trust the club bestowed on him. He won’t be able to represent sponsors who support Chiefs. No brand wants to be associated with alcoholics who don’t respect their work. The best thing to do is to let him go.

For all and sundry, end of year always brings with it good and bad memories. I believe football unites people across the colour, culture and social divides. If you support a football team, you are bound to suffer at one point or another. Kaizer Chiefs supporters are suffering through their team’s current poor performance. Orlando Pirates diehards are chanting ‘league title’ this season, yet their team has struggled for consistency. You can feel their frustration when the team loses or draws. It looks easy to support Chiefs because they celebrate every draw and a victory for them is like winning a cup final. Sundowns supporters are not enjoying their success because our players are always on the road. South Africans do not accept us nor appreciate our success even when representing the country in Africa. That brings a lot of unnecessary pressure to us the Yellow Nation, the technical team and players. It is with that in mind that I wish all football fanatics, the Mamelodi Sundowns family in South Africa, the Southern

African region and the whole continent a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I thank the management for supporting our team during this difficult time of the season. I wish the technical team, players and supporters all the best in our remaining games this year. Christmas and New Year always come with joy, but remember the responsibilities that follow after that. Finally, I urge families to support each other as we wage a war against alcohol abuse among the youth and the scourge of children who do not “honour thy father and mother” as per the 10 Commandments.
