Sekhukhune join Pirates & Co. in Mogaila pursuit

-

Sekhukhune United has joined Orlando Pirates and a few other clubs in pursuit of Royal AM winger Shaune Mogaila’s services, this according to insiders.

For the past few seasons, the player has been a target of the Soweto giants according to informants, but the club has been unsuccessful in landing his signature after the 28-year-old moved from Highlands Park to TS Galaxy and from there to Royal AM in the last three years.

To make things more complicated, Thwihli Thwahla were hit with a transfer ban before the start of the current season, and therefore have been cautious about losing key players as they can’t sign their replacements.

Mogaila has played in all 15 matches so far this season, having started all and was replaced only once, while he has bagged two assists to add to his impressive numbers.

“Sekhukhune and Pirates are both chasing Mokete Mogaila’s signature. Both clubs are aware that the player has entered the last six months of his contract with Royal AM. Sekhukhune is the most serious of the two teams about securing the player’s signature, but there could be a stumbling block,” revealed a source.

“In the situation that they are in with the transfer ban, Royal AM are trying to hold on to Mogaila’s services as he is one of the key players in their squad. In fact, the club has initiated talks with the player’s camp to try and keep him,” the source concluded.

Contacted for comment, Mogaila’s representative, Gerald Baloyi, told the Siya crew, “Yes, it is true that we are talking to Royal AM. But we can’t stop other teams if they intend to table offers for the player.”
