Clubs keeping tabs on Bucs’ Makhaula?

-

Despite his lack of regular gametime in Orlando, Makhehleni Makhaula has potential suitors monitoring his situation, sources have indicated.

The midfield grafter featured as a substitute in the first three league matches for Orlando Pirates and hasn’t been in any of coach Jose Riveiro’s other line-ups this season except for another substitute appearance in the MTN8. There have been doubts over the experienced player’s future with the side, but with the club having a one-year option on the deal, indications are that a decision has been made for now to keep him until at least 2025, according to sources.

With the likes of Thabang Monare, Miguel Timm and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo being preferred in defensive midfield, Makhaula has found himself down the pecking order.

AmaZulu FC, his previous employers, are known to have been monitoring the player’s situation with interest, as reported by Soccer Laduma.

In addition, sources have indicated that two other clubs, in Chippa United and SuperSport United, have been keeping a close eye on the midfielder.

“Makhaula is a good player and there is no doubt about that, but so far things haven’t worked out for him at Pirates as far as game-time is concerned. There are a few clubs that are keen on the player, including his former team, AmaZulu. He left the club on good terms and that’s why a reunion can’t be ruled out if he was to leave Pirates,” a source revealed.

“Chippa and SuperSport have also showed interest, but for now, the player belongs to Pirates and the club hasn’t said there are no plans to keep him beyond this season,” concluded the informant.
