LORCH OFF TO CHLOORKOP, VIA ORLANDO

-

We are saddened by the transfer of Lorch from Pirates to Sundowns. As Bucs faithful, we never thought that this day would come, but hey, what can we do? Players come and players go, nobody is bigger than Orlando Pirates. Look, at the same time we are happy for him. The boy has served the team with flying colours. His contribution was massive. We wish him all the best. Danko! Litha Nqeketo, Mthatha, Eastern Cape

As a Pirates supporter, I’m very disappointed with the big news that we gave Sundowns one of our big stars, Lorch. If we really need to stop Downs from taking all the trophies, I don’t think we were supposed to sell him to them. The team must just forget about the league. More worryingly, the coach is quiet about this situation. We are becoming the laughing stock of SA football. Bucs are always selling star players to Sundowns: Teko, Leremi, Cheeseboy and now Lorch. Management really surprised us, but they can forget about the league, not only this season but for a very long time. Most supporters thought Pirates are the only hope to stop Downs. We keep on buying no-name players from Chippa, who are going to sit on the bench the whole season. Pirates management, you really disappointed us big time by selling one of your star players to the Yellow Nation. Very bad decision. Sibusiso Xulu, Grange, Pietermaritzburg

If it was any other team acquiring the services of Lorch, I would say halala to him and that team, but going to Sundowns “is not make sure” whether it will be a fruitful marriage for the rest of the contract. It seems to me the only players who are able to sign and cement their places at Sundowns are those signed from SuperSport. Maybe there are clauses in their contracts that guarantee them gametime while at Chloorkop. Many players have failed at Downs, though they won’t agree with that. Lebese, Maluleka, Mohomi, etc come to mind. Let’s hope it’s not the beginning of the end for Lorch’s career. Mompati Panyaza Ndlovu, Lekubu village, Zeerust

The acquisition of Lorch is highly commendable. He is one the best tiki-taka players of his generation and I have no doubt his combination with Zwane and Sirino will give North African teams sleepless nights. It’s always imperative to sign players who will enhance our style of play. I hope Sundowns management learned a harsh lesson from the multimillionRand Mendieta deal, as he was never Downs material.
