Ntseki ready for return after Amakhosi disappointment
Coach Molefi Ntseki is ready for a return to big-time football after taking some time off while weighing up his options following his exit from Kaizer Chiefs.
The soft-spoken mentor has been unattached since parting ways with the club in October last year, having led the team to four wins, three draws and six losses in 13 matches (in all competitions) in charge.
It might have been a brief spell, but the 54-year-old had a rocky relationship with some sections of the Soweto giants’ supporters, who attacked him on a few occasions at stadiums on account of unpleasant results.
Ntseki had initially arrived at Naturena as the Head of Technical and Youth Development in June 2021.
With the 2023/24 season set to resume post the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Botshabelo-born man is ready to return either with a club or at national team level, whether in the junior ranks or with a senior side, now that he has had time to reflect, sources have confirmed.
“Coach Ntseki is weighing up his options for a return, possibly before the end of the season. He has had time to reflect after what happened at Chiefs with the supporters and all that. Being the professional that he is, he has managed to put everything behind him and he is ready to contribute to football development in the country,” a source said.
“This is a knowledgeable coach whose experience can be used in many ways to help grow football in the country. For him to be sitting at home without contributing to football development doesn’t seem right. Be it in a club or at national team level, the coach will be available to contribute if the project seems right,” the source said.
In his recent interview with Soccer Laduma, published in edition 1359, the former Bafana Bafana head coach was vague when asked about his plans for the future, only saying, “I have been in football for more than 26 years and I am still in football. I have a life out of football, and I will still be in football. What lies ahead of me is football.”
