Bucs and Chiefs cast an eye on Appollis?

-

With Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs understood to be chasing the signature of Oswin Appollis, Polokwane City are open to selling him, according to sources.

The 22-year-old has been one of the top performers for Rise and Shine this season, having already netted five goals and bagged three assists in all competitions. He joined prior to the start of the season to resurrect his career after spending the previous campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Pretoria Callies post his time with SuperSport United.

The attacking midfielder scored an important penalty at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast to earn Bafana Bafana a bronze medal against DR Congo and was commended for his showing.

Indications from sources in the know are that the payer’s progress hasn’t gone unnoticed, with both Soweto giants understood to be monitoring his progress.

“Pirates and Chiefs are interested in Appollis and the good thing for them, or any other interested club, is that Polokwane City is open to selling. The club won’t stand in the player’s way and for them it will be a matter of cashing in on a player they were taking a chance on when he was signed,” said a source.

“He is a talented youngster with a lot of potential, but at the time of his signing, he needed a fresh start in the big league and Polokwane was willing to offer him an opportunity. He has done well, and the club won’t stand in his way if there is an opportunity for him to grow further,” concluded the source.

At the end of this season, Appollis will have another year remaining on his contract as he signed a two-year deal when he moved to Limpopo, though the club does have a one-year option in place.
