CHIEFS DEEP IN TROUBLED WATERS

-

Soccer Laduma was very much correct in last week’s edition about Chiefs strikers. The club has not scored any goal since the DStv Premiership resumed. They are not the Chiefs we know from yesteryear, are now an ordinary team and losing respect because any team can give them a tough time. One of my Pirates friends was boasting saying that on Saturday they are going to burry us alive. But I was quick to remind him that the previous game doesn’t count when it comes to this fixture. I guess it’s in every Chiefs player’s DNA that they have to undermine every so-called minor team that they play against. What happened against Milford FC left a bitter taste on the mouths of the team’s followers. But I was expecting such a thing to happen, especially if you look at the history of the club against these small teams in this tournament. Also, the Milford youngsters wanted to be in the history books. They played like seasoned players and matched Chiefs pound for pound. It is very surprising to see them in midtable of the Motsepe Foundation Championship with such talent at their disposal. For us, it’s another season, another drought! Nafie Moloantoa, KwaThema

It is very disappointing to see such a big team like Chiefs playing without quality players. Players who are earning huge salaries are not justifying their contracts with their poor performance. The less said about the Swallows game, the better. Last but not least, congrats to champions-elect Sundowns for winning the 2023/24 DStv Premiership title. Hopefully, the Chiefs management will take supporters seriously. Nine years without a trophy for a big team like Amakhosi is a disgrace. Boitumelo Vanrooyen, Schweizer-Reneke

I’ve been thinking where would Chiefs be now if they had not released Zwane from coaching the senior team? I mean, this is the coach who had taken them to the Champions League final. I am talking about a coach who made the club play aggressive and lightning-quick football. He blended in youngsters. Without enough material, we were getting things alright. Khosi, I remain.
