Stellies slap R20m price-tag on Adams as Downs circle?

-

The Siya crew has been informed of Stellenbosch’s asking price for one of their most sought-after possessions, this after growing interest from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Having lost Ashley Du Preez and Junior Mendieta for a combined R22 million to Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively, Stellies were adamant on holding onto the remaining players on their roster.

The likes of Fawaaz Basadien, Sage Stephens, Deano Van Rooyen and Thabo Moloisane all garnered interest from Gauteng’s biggest clubs in January, though the Cape winelands outfit managed to shake off interested suitors, albeit temporarily.

Jayden Adams is one of the players who have caught the gaze of Gauteng clubs, and the Siya crew has learnt that Sundowns are set to step-up their pursuit of the player once the July/August transfer window officially opens and are willing to pay a transfer fee to land him.

The 22-year-old has seen his stock rise rapidly in Stellies colours over the last two seasons and has become a mainstay for the club, which has seen him roped in to Bafana Bafana, where he formed part of coach Hugo Broos’ AFCON squad.

Stellies have placed a handsoff sign on their national team star; however, a source close to the dealings has since informed the crew that the Carling Knockout champions will accept nothing less than R20 million if they are to lose Adams to Gauteng.

Stellies confirmed via their social media platforms that Adams penned a long-term deal with the club, though the duration thereof was not disclosed.

Sundowns have shown that their deep pockets know no bounds and that they are willing to stop at nothing to land their desired targets, meaning that Adams’ asking price is well within reach for the Brazilians.

Stellies do, however, hold all the cards on the player’s futures and you can be guaranteed that if he were to leave the winelands, it would only be on their terms.
