Pirates to make an offer for Khanyi?

-

Orlando Pirates are expected to make a formal offer for Muzomuhle Khanyi, who has been doing well for Hungry Lions in the second tier, close sources have indicated.

Khanyi emerged as one of the players who caught the attention of the Buccaneers from the Motsepe Foundation Championship following Lions’ progress in this year’s Nedbank Cup, which was ended by Pirates in the Last 16 last weekend.

The 24-year-old, who has scored four league goals for the promotion-chasing side, was one of the top performers as the Northern Cape club progressed past the Last 32 of the prestigious competition.

With Pirates following the progress of players from the different leagues ahead of next season, Khanyi has become the latest player to catch the attention of their scouts with a possibility for the Soweto giants to make a move for his signature, according to sources.

“Pirates has been following the progress of Muzomuhle Khanyi and will continue to do so for the rest of the season. He is a talented young man with a lot of potential and depending on his progress in the remaining games of the season, Pirates could make an offer to sign him. The club is preparing for the future and that’s why there are players that were signed from the NFD (Motsepe Foundation Championship) at the end of last season and were loaned to other clubs,” one source told us.

Among the players who were signed by Bucs last season was Siphelo Baloni from All Stars, Cebo Mchunu from Bizana Pondo Chiefs, as well as Sphamandla Gumede from Dondol Stars.
