MOKOTJO ON HIS WAY OUT OF SEKHUKHUNE?

-

come by for the likes of Hamza.

The player could leave the club and make a return to Tanzania, though it’s understood that he is interested in staying in the PSL.

Sekhukhune United appear to have made a decision on the future of Kamohelo Mokotjo, the Siya Crew has been informed.

Following his arrival at Babina Noko in January last year on a short-term deal, Mokotjo had his contract extended by one more year at the end of last season.

Despite being an important member of the Sekhukhune squad, having featured in 19 league matches out of the 20 for the team, indications are that the experienced midfielder is unlikely to get a new contract.

“With Kamohelo Mokotjo, it’s more about his choice and it seems like he has other offers. There’s been interest in the player locally and abroad. AmaZulu is monitoring the situation closely.

At this stage, Sekhukhune aren’t looking at extending the player’s deal further,” said the source.

Mokotjo spent more than a decade overseas and made a lot of contacts over the years, and indications are that he could be willing to return to one of the leagues abroad, should an opportunity arise although age might be a big factor as he turned 33 last month.

TIME RUNNING OUT FOR SUPERSPORT IN JOHANNES TALKS?

It may come as a surprise to some, but SuperSport United are now in a race against time in discussions with defender Kegan Johannes.

A club that has now built their reputation on ushering emerging talent into senior team football would have been expected to move swiftly in confirming the future of a player seen by many as potentially the next captain, but the 23-year-old is still yet to put pen to paper.

Johannes recently captained the junior national team in their pursuit to qualify for the Olympic Games later this year, and although coach David Notoane did not achieve this mandate just as he did guiding the side to Tokyo in 2021, the SuperSport utility defender did standout from the rest of the squad.

Johannes comes from the famous Ajax Cape Town academy and when he was let go by the Urban Warriors he finally found a home in Tshwane with Matsatsantsa in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since.

The Siya crew understands Johannes is at a crossroads yet again in his career and there’s no doubt he will not be short of suitors seeing that he is now eligible to sign a pre-contract with any club of his choosing.

SuperSport can still table an offer, but time is running out, with his initial deal set to expire on June 30 with no firm talks over extending his stay under coach Gavin Hunt at the moment.
