Aziz Ki to opt for a Pirates move?

-

With Burkina Faso international Stephane Aziz Ki still facing uncertain future at Tanzanian club Young Africans, a move to Orlando Pirates could be getting closer to reality, our sources have indicated.

Aziz Ki has emerged as the sought-after player for the winter transfer window, with several clubs keeping tabs on him, following his good performances for Yanga this season.

The 28-year-old has scored 14 goals for the Tanzanian giants this season and is one of the first names in coach Miguel Gamondi’s team sheets.

With the two-year contract that he signed on arrival from ASEC Mimosas in 2022 set to expire at the end of the season, the player is unlikely to extend the deal as he looks to assess his options regarding a possible move to a different league for next season.

According to close sources, the talk of a potential move to Pirates sounds tempting for the attacking midfielder who also harbours ambitions of playing abroad.

While the Buccaneers are understood to have made enquiries on the player’s availability, he is understood to be willing to listen to the club should direct contact be made with him.

“Of all the clubs showing interest in Stephane Aziz Ki, Pirates have a better chance of winning his signature as he is also keen on a move to the PSL. He will listen to Pirates as long as the club is willing to meet his demands. But one thing is for sure, he won’t be staying with Yanga, and will be searching for greener pastures come the end of the season,” said a source.

Aziz Ki is said to be one of the highest-paid players at Yanga, earning around R200 000 in monthly salaries, and will be looking for a little extra than that in his next deal.

There has also been reported interest in the player’s services from Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Zamalek and Raja Athletic Club of Morocco.
