NEW ALBUM OUT SOON

Life has been good to Selaolo Selota

- Dimakatso Motau

MUSICIAN Selalo Selota says life has been good to him since he married his sweetheart and pursued his passion for teaching.

“I have been lecturing full time at the Academy of Sound Engineering (ASE) in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, and also working on my latest album,” Selota says.

ASE teaches sound production, radio production, television, live sound, music production and theory.

The Trrr Pha and Mamodiegi singer says though he has been out of the limelight his live performance schedule has been hectic.

I have also been repositioning the brand Selaelo Selota at Soul Truth Music, which has kept me out of the media,” he explains.

The mentor of young musicians such as The Muzos and Donald Moatshe, Selota says he has also always worked with young musicians from his own band because he is passionate about teaching.

He says he is currently grooming six young musicians, whom he swears will blow music lovers away.

The young musicians will be revealed on my album, which is almost complete and which will be released soon. I hope the crowd loves them,” Selota says.

He says that the best way for young musicians to be heard is for them to have strong, individual voices.

That can only be achieved by singing and expressing yourself in your own indigenous language and rhythms.

You will always get support from your people and those that want to experience your unique culture,” he says. motaud@sowetan.co.za
