REUNITED FEELS GOOD
MADI had quite a busy week, unlike Angie Motshekga’s hairstylist.
Madi’s first stop was in Braamfontein, where there was a launch of some mobile boutique for the clothing label Punk and Ivy. Yes, you read right, a mobile boutique. First there were mobile toilets, now boutiques.
Anyway, Madi thought the clothes were quite interesting. They have that punk, grungy feel to them and would probably look good on those who don’t bath frequently. Gosh, Penny Lebyane also showed face and Madi cringed. It was a hip, young crowd, so what was Mama Penny doing there? Babysitting? The crazy couple Tall Ass Mo and his wife Mome were also there. Madi loves this duo – they are so cute. Mome needs to go easy on the bubbly. Puffy cheeks, red eyes, and swollen lower lips. Madi bumped into Maps Maponyane, who has apparently moved on from Nomzamo Mbatha and is rumoured to be dating serial-dater Amanda du Pont. Gosh, who hasn’t this girl dated? “Papsak ” wine in a box started being served, and that’s when Madi knew it was time to sprint.
And sprint she did, and found herself at Mahoota’s birthday bash held at Taboo in Sandton. He was probably turning 50, like he does every year. The place was packed to capacity, with 90% of the crowd made up of nobodies in plastic weaves. Singer Bucie got on stage and immediately started complaining about the poor sound quality.
Girl, ever heard that the show must go on? The theme was carnival and Mahoota took it to the tenth degree and rocked up looking like a peacock that has a stint opening for Celine Dion in Vegas.
His wife is such a stunner. For a change, Mahoota spent well on his party. It was well organised. Madi spotted DJ Clock explaining who he was to the bouncers, who wouldn’t let him in. Madi, being nosey, suspects some flirtation going on between Luthando Shosha and rapper Reason. They even left the venue together. Girl, you must stay away; he’s married, kids and all.
Madi also made her way to Morula Sun, where Mafikizolo’s reunited tour kicked off. Dr Malinga was there, in the same outfit he wore the previous night at Mahoota’s. He looked scruffy as well. Mafikizolo’s performance was amazing and blew Madi away. Nhlanhla Nciza could be less stiff, but at least Theo made up for it. He stole a page from Mandoza’s butchery of the queen’s language, and went on about how he’d like to thank God for “surviving the fatal accident” they were involved in.
