PATOSI ’ S LOKEREN EDGE JALI ’ S OOSTENDE

AYANDA Patosi provided two assists as his Lokeren side defeated Andile Jali ’ s KV Oostende 2-1 in their opening match of the Uefa Europa league play-offs in Belgium.

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona netted for Oostende, while Jali had a solid enough outing in the midfield.

Anele Ngcongca played for Genk as they won 1-0 at home to Zulte-Waregem, but there was no sign of Darren Keet, who missed Kortrijk ’ s 2-0 loss to Gent through injury.

Tokelo Rantie was not in the match day squad for English Championsh­ip side Bournemout­h as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Ipswich Town on Friday to slip to second in the table.

Bongani Khumalo played again for Colchester United as they picked up a 2-1 success at Port Vale to move to within four points of safety from relegation. It was a disappoint­ing weekend for Bafana Bafana captain Dean Furman, whose Doncaster Rovers side lost 3-0 to Bradford City in the English League One, a potentiall­y fatal blow to their promotion hopes.

And Steven Pienaar was back on the bench for Everton in their 1-0 win at home to Southampto­n after his long injury lay-off.

He will hope to get some game time in the remaining weeks of the season.

Kamohelo Mokotjo played for FC Twente in their 5-0 hammering at the hands of league leaders PSV Eindhoven, though Twente did rest some first team regulars ahead of tomorrow ’ s Dutch Cup semifinal against PEC Zwolle.

Thulani Serero also started for Ajax Amsterdam as they were held 1-1 by Utrecht.
