CELEBRITIES WALK DOWN AISLES
I DO: A royal wedding of Prince Nhlanganiso Zulu, the son of King Goodwill Zwelithini and Wandile Mkhize in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal. President Jacob Zuma congratulates the couple after tying the knot
WEDDING bells rang wildly and loudly over the weekend.
The Zulu nation toasted a royal wedding when Prince Nhlanganiso, the first son of King Goodwill Zwelithini with Queen Buhle, tied the knot with Wandile Mkhize in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal.
Mkhize’s father, who was a chief, went to the same school with Zwelithini and they were close friends.
The lavish nuptials were attended by President Jacob Zuma, IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi, ANC treasurer Zweli Mkhize, business tycoon Vivian Reddy, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi and a delegation from the Swazi royal house. Business tycoons and community leaders from various organisations joined dignitaries to fill the Anglican Church in Nongoma on Saturday.
The reception was held at KwaDlamahlahla royal residence, also in Nongoma. The celebrations ended with a traditional wedding on Sunday.
Elsewhere in the province, TV stars Nolwazi Shange and Mzwandile Ngubeni threw a traditional wedding bash in Kloof, Durban, on Saturday. Ngubeni, 34, is best known for hosting SABC1 show Spirit Sundae and has starred in
Generations and Isidingo. Shange, a casting director at e.tv’s Rhythm City, rose to prominence in the role of Precious in the
SABC1 drama series A Place Called Home.
“Being married to someone I regard as a best friend is a precious gift from God,” she said.
The ceremony was attended by famous faces like actors Samkelo Ndlovu and Akhumzi Jezile.
The bride did not reveal much about the impending white wedding but said it would be private for family and friends.
Still in KwaZuluNatal, awardwinning director Zuko Nodada married actress Thandeka Malinga. Nodada is the director of Matatiele and Ukhakhayi TV dramas. He has also directed Hard Copy and Zero Tolerance and the film Between Friends. Their white wedding was hosted at the Netherwood venue. Friends of the couple like Rolie Nikiwe and his wife Khobi Ledwaba, actors Sello Motloung and Noxee Maqashalala were there. Malinga has acted in dramas like A Place Called Home and Bay of Plenty.
