Black Consciousness groups fading

- William Shiba, Tshwane

I’VE SEEN two or three letters attacking Prince Mashele on blacks rejecting Black Consciousness (BC) groups. Mashele has made a correct observation on this issue.

The question is if blacks have not or do not reject these BC groups, then why are the PAC and the other BC groups performing so poorly during elections?

The PAC and Azapo are only hanging on for dear life while the Black Consciousness Movement is almost nonexistent. As black parents we even fail to impart this black ideology to our offspring.

A study done after the recent local elections found that most under 30s voted for the DA. Is this surprising? I don’t think so. Instead, we should expect that even the ANC will experience a gradual rejection from this “bornfree” generation.
