Trip Tease is top weight

-

TRIP TEASE was allotted top weight of 62,5kg for the Grade 3 Spring Spree Stakes over 1 200m on the Turffontein Inside track on Saturday. To add to the problems of trainer Louis Goosen, his charge has landed the widest draw of all, No 23, for this R250 000 event which is run around the turn.

The better news for the stable is that Doing It For Dan, set to carry 60,5kg, drew reasonably well at No 9. The five-year-old son of Windrush went off the boil for a while but came back to form in his last start when easily accounting for Mod Barley and stablemate Tip Tease in a Pinnacle Stakes.

Gary Alexander has nominated Kangaroo Jack, winner of the Grade 2 Post Merchants at Greyville in July. A run earlier he carried 64,5kg to victory, beating Danza over 1 450m on the Turffontein Inside track by 0,4 lengths, despite conceding 9kg to the runner-up. He has an excellent record on this course with three wins and two close seconds in five starts.

Thrust could be an interesting runner as he has won six of his 11 starts. Paul Matchett’s charge seems to have had a few problems but won well last time out. He has been allotted just 54,5kg and has landed No 3 draw, but the son of Toreador has yet to win on the Inside track.

Champion trainer Sean Tarry has nominated six runners – Donny G, Liege, Lunar Approach, Lance, Machismo and Buckland – while Mike Azzie has entered three and Mike de Kock two.
