KENNY HAS A HIDDEN AGENDA

Son of Brave Tin Soldier only penalised three points

- RACING EDITOR

TRAINER Scott Kenny did the right thing with Hidden Agenda last time out by stepping him up in trip and a solid win was the result.

The Brave Tin Soldier gelding quickened up nicely to stop a threerun winning streak by Silver Peg to beat him by 0.80 lengths and Hidden Agenda can follow up by winning Race 7, a MR 78 Handicap over 1600m at the Vaal today.

That last run was over 1700m at this course and Hidden Agenda escaped with just a three-point penalty. Although the five-year-old will carry top weight he does not have to give much weight away to his main rivals.

Raise The Red looks the chief threat and this Slew The Red five-year-old was 3.30 lengths behind Hidden Agenda when they last meet. A 2.5kg swing in favour of Raise The Red will make it closer this time.

Jockey Gavin Lerena was missing from racing last week but is carded to be aboard Hidden Agenda and has ridden him before.

The Mike de Kock branch in Gauteng has not been in the best of form of late but it is possible he could start the meeting off with a winner and close it with another success.

Charleston Hero in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1600m, should be in peak condition as he will be having his third run after being gelded.

This distance does suit this Silvano gelding and Charleston Hero was by no means disgraced when fourth behind Capuche in a MR 68 Handicap at Turffontein recently.

Uposeupay has tended to be a bit unreliable but should run well.

Geoff Woodruff-trained Rownak makes his debut and is well bred so must be considered.

Golden Sword filly The Red List was doing her best work late in her debut run and is sure to be smarter this time so looks the right one to be with In Race 8, a Maiden Plate over 1600m.

The Red List finished fourth behind Spectralight. Ahead of her was Sammi Moosa but as the margin was only 1.10 lengths The Red List is more likely to improve sufficiently to overcome that deficit.

Jockey Andrew Fortune has started this season very nicely and his mount in this race, Light House Lady, has finished fifth in both starts and is likely to do even better this time.

Sweet Chestnut and Bank The Bill are not out of it and must be given some respect, especially in the battle for place money.
