Ertugral disgusted after draw

ORLANDO Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral says he couldn’t recognise his own team in their goalless draw against Cape Town City on Tuesday.

City, who are coached by former Pirates coach Eric Tinkler, dominated play and were unlucky not to have walked away from the Orlando Stadium with the maximum points.

As he reflected on their dismal showing, Ertugral said his team may be top of the log, with seven points after three outings, but they are far from the finished product.

“I’m personally disappointed with the type of football that we dished out and it didn’t look like we are a team that trains every day – no pattern, no organisation and tactical aspects,” Ertugral lamented.

“I need to understand the players and they need to understand me,” he said, pointing out that Cape Town City goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters didn’t have much to do as Pirates failed to create chances. “I must apologise to the fans. This is not the type of football they want to see,” said a deflated Ertugral. Pirates’ next match is against Bidvest Wits on Saturday at Bidvest Stadium.

Wits have already beaten Pirates 2-1 in the MTN8 quarterfinals this season.

Meanwhile, Pirates defender Edwin Gyimah was missing in action against City following his bust up with Ertugral at Cape Town International Airport last week.

“Gyimah has apologised to me. We leave it in the hands of the club,” Ertugral said.
