Gauteng schools in action

VARIOUS Gauteng schools will take to sports fields today for sporting activities across the province.

The provincial department of sport, arts, culture and recreation, in partnership with the department of education, will host the 6th annual Gauteng Rural and Farm Schools Sports Festival at the Reiger Park Stadium in Ekurhuleni (from 9am). Male and female pupils under the age of 13 will compete in chess, football, rugby, volleyball and kgati.

Then, boys and girls (U-15) teams from Ekurhuleni (Hoërskool Voortrekker, Boksburg, 9am), Johannesburg (Queens High School, Kensington) and Tshwane (Hoërskool Voortrekkerhoogte, Pretoria) will compete in regional rugby sevens games to select a provincial team in the build up to the SA Summer Games in December.
