On varsity riots

WHAT is happening at our universiti­es is really bad. I am not against the students demanding reasonable university fees. I agree with Gwede Mantashe, who suggested that the universiti­es must be closed temporaril­y. On reopening, they must allow only those students who were progressin­g well. – Chopo THERE is only one way to deal with the crisis at universiti­es, leave the students to shut down campuses and deploy security agencies to guard the institutio­ns. Very little learning, if any, has taken place this year and it is hopeless to plan for a normal yearend. – Buyiswa On free education THE children of all our cabinet ministers, including those of the president, are not studying at these affected varsities.
