NOMA CELEBRATES JOY IN HER LIFE
NOMA Khumalo is steadfast in her resolve to make a success of her Idols SA victory. Want It To Feel Like It Did With
You, her latest single, peaked at number 16 on iTunes, and Khumalo said she was thrilled. “I think it’s an awesome achievement. Most artists have to wait years and years to even impact the iTunes buying market. This is my first song ever and the fact that it has made the charts is awesome,” she said.
“It was so overwhelming to see my name among all the international and local superstars. That achievement is incredible.”
Khumalo said she had been hard on herself during Idols. “I found myself only focusing on the negative things people said about me and my performances. Now I’m focusing on all the good that has come into my life. I realise that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m focusing on the positive and making the most of what I have been blessed with.”
Khumalo is set to release her next single Moving On later this year.
“Idols has catapulted me into this industry and … I’ve had the joy and the pleasure of working with artists like Sketchy Bongo and other amazing songwriters, producers and arrangers.”
Khumalo said the title of her album emanated from a personal space. “Everyone has experienced a certain degree of joy in their lives. Mine came from teaching, the joy my students brought to me and life lessons we have imparted to each other. “There’s the joy of winning Idols and how amazing it feels to be the first black female winner to have won in seven years. I had the joy of recording my debut album and getting into the music industry which has always been a dream of mine. I’ve had so many joyous events taking place in my life and this has just been one of them and it’s been absolutely amazing. We therefore decided to call my album
Joy based on all the joy in my life.”
