WOODRUFF THE ONE TO FOLLOW TODAY

Mosia has six rides for Marwing

THE second leg of the R50 000 Work Riders’ Challenge takes place at the Vaal Racecourse today and the card comprises eight Maiden Plate races.

The current leader is Samuel Mosia and although he has some good rides he will basically be relying on his boss, Weiho Marwing, to help him out as six of his eight rides are for that stable.

Trainer Geoff Woodruff has always been at his deadly best at this track and his record in work riders’ races is not too shabby either.

Woodruff has four runners carded and two of them should be very hard to oppose.

Sea Bean, the mount of Francis Semela, should win the opening event over 2000m.

The Philanthropist filly has run two cracking races to date and the step up in distance should be just what she is looking for.

Stable companion Private Swarovski also gets a step up in distance in Race 2 and he could prove a step or two quicker than rivals Porcupine Creek and Magic Sword.

Woodruff has opted for Goodman Dadamasi to ride this Brave Tin Soldier gelding.

The other two Woodruff runners are Truth of Beauty in Race 6 and Princess Aurora in Race 8.

Both these fillies have moments of in their form but have yet to get out of the maiden ranks and they have had their chances.

Truth Of Beauty was third behind Berdanine at this course in October but has disappointed since.

Her fifth place finish behind Golddust Woman at Turffontein in December was not a bad effort and she has a chance.

She may find Aerobatic and Street Life a bit too good, though.

Aerobatic looks to be improving and could like this course and distance after lacking a finish over further earlier this season.

Street Life has only had one run and is likely to be a lot smarter this time.

Princess Aurora is holding her form and was not disgraced when fourth over this course and distance last time out.
