TALENTED BUHLE FINDS HER SHOWBIZ FOOTING
BUHLE Moletsane is taking the entertainment industry by storm.
The multi-talented radio and television personality is currently impressing audiences in her role as cautious schoolgirl Gabisile in Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Greed and Desire.
The friendly and confident Moletsane from Roodepoort, regards the show as one of her biggest achievements to date.
The 27-year-old first graced our screens last year and has come to own the character with her convincing portrayal.
“Gabi is that good girl who gets good grades. No one ever thought she would have a boyfriend, let alone fall pregnant.
“She eventually opens up to the world of lust and falls pregnant while still at high school. Her journey is filled with challenges that she must overcome,” Moletsane explains. After some time on Greed and
Desire, Moletsane says she is amazed at how much her character has developed.
“I never thought I would be there for this long. Actually, I was told that the role was supposed to end sooner but they extended the story line and role because they recognised my potential.”
She says adapting to her character was not easy. She had to learn how to express intense emotions like crying and how to behave like a pregnant woman.
“It was exciting and challenging at the same time. I had to understand how the character [Gabisile] felt in order to tap into her energy,” Moletsane remembers.
The University of Johannesburg public relations graduate believes the role will open up doors for her in the industry.
Moletsane has come a long way since winning Jo-Ann Strauss’s presenter search contest in 2011. She also hosted Strauss’s show, Glambition.
A year later, Moletsane got a cameo role in Generations as Ntombenhle before landing another one on Rhythm City as Refilwe.
She also presents her own show on Trans Africa radio.
“I have always had a passion for entertainment. I love radio and television equally.” Moletsane says she’s “hanging out” with a certain actor but is quick to point out that “it’s nothing serious yet”.
“I go on dates just for the free food, (laughs). Just joking. Even though I am emotionally ready to get married and have children, this industry is too demanding.
“They are not gonna wait for you to have a child, they will replace you,” she says.
She describes the entertainment industry as a ‘dog-eats-dog’ world and an unfriendly space but says she is determined to do well.
“There’s always going to be that girl who is prettier than you. I just focus on my craft because people can then say that girl is talented.”
