SINIVASAN WINS E!HOST SA HONOUR

- Nelly Selepe

KATLEHO Sinivasan is headed to Hollywood.

On Wednesday night he clinched one of the most coveted jobs on local television when he won the E! Host South Africa title.

As part of his prize, Sinivasan will be headed to Tinseltown to meet other hosts of the showbiz channel.

Still visibly shaken by his victory, Sinivasan told Sowetan yesterday that when host Bonang Matheba announced his name he went blank in disbelief.

“I thought I was going to scream because I’m usually a talkative person but I froze. It’s the biggest achievement of my career that I’m very proud of, this is definitely my big break,” he gushed.

“I’m looking forward to going to Hollywood and meeting the E! family there.”

The bright-eyed Sinivasan was crowned at a glitzy event held at Taboo nightclub in Sandton, following a gruelling six-week competition, where he finally pipped Abigail Visagie to the post. Some of the A-listers in attendance were actress Sophie Ndaba, musician Thembi Seete, Olympian Akani Simbine and music sensation Moneoa.

“I was hoping to win but at the same time I acknowledged that the competition was very tough. Most of the contestants were professional presenters and we were also presenting in front of millions of people who could pick up if I made a mistake, so winning it is just amazing,” said Sinivasan.

The 26-year-old presenter from Soweto uses his Indian mother’s surname. He currently hosts Mzansi

Insider with Rorisang Thandekiso on SABC1 on Sunday mornings.

He didn’t indicate if he will be ditching the show or not. But his new gig places him in the thick of red-carpet action as the first South African correspondent of the popular pop culture powerhouse.
