- By Patience Bambalele

TV actress and fitness guru Khabonina Qubeka is establishing her online health and lifestyle television channel.

The stickler for healthy living has already began shooting episodes for her channel called Khabodacious.

The channel will be launched officially on May 6 and will be available through YouTube. It’s biggest attraction will be Fitness Tuesday with Khabonina.

“I’m excited because online television show is not limiting, people will be able to see the things that I have been talking about on twitter live,” she said.

Through the channel she plans to offer advice about the best exercises that will make people loose fat fast and how yoga helps to balance the body.

She says her followers can watch six-minutes episodes of interviews with different celebrities.

“The fitness show is both informative and educational. For example, if we interview someone like DJ Fresh, he will show us how he exercises just to inspire people.

“Those who do not go to gym, who run, we will do the interview running,” Qubeka said.

The channel will also feature a dietician who will talk about healthy nutrition and the best way to cook even junk food.

“Though the show promotes healthy living, I am not criticising or judging people. I think people can still enjoy township staples like fat cakes and chips in a healthy way.”

Qubeka has previously created and produced a lifestyle and health show called Gym Ekasi, that was aired on Open View HD. The Orlando West, Soweto-born actress said she noticed that people did not have enough information about matters relating to health and diet. Apart from her fitness channel, Qubeka is appearing on Isidingo as Nina, the daughter of gangster Georgie Zamdela. She is someone who everyone loves to hate.

She's a feisty shebeen queen, who has a no nonsense approach to everything she does.

Qubeka is also part of the South African film She is King, set to be released in June.

“In the film I play the lead role of Mkabayi in a theatre piece. The film pays tribute to one of the most powerful women, Mkabayi.”

Qubeka says she loves being part of the film because she dances and choreographs a few scenes.
