SA designer a hit with stars
Vaughn rocks black velvet affair
American actress Terri J Vaughn, renowned for her role on The Steve Harvey Show, looked stunning at Tuesday night’s premiere of local film Love By Chance in Hyde Park, Johannesburg.
The 47-year-old star has a supporting role in the romantic comedy starring local stars Atandwa Kani and Altovise Lawrence.
Vaughn wore a velvet cleavage-hugging embellished dress designed by local fashion house Quiteria & George.
Ahead of the big night, Vaughn revealed she was torn between two dresses – one made by Quiteria & George and the other by New York-based designer Thomas Lavone.
“I’m torn between two dresses. They are both fabu- lous dresses and I don’t know which one I’m wearing. The Quiteria & George guys designed this great dress that they have to do some major alteration to,” Vaughn said. “I’m praying they get it done by tonight. If that happens, that’s what I will be wearing.” Lawrence, currently on e.tv soapie Scandal!, was the belle of the ball in a dramatic creation, also by Quiteria & George.
She had the cameras flashing at her black strapless ball gown, with sexy sheer details on the bodice. The film’s other two American stars, Desi Banks and Ja’el Roberson, are also in the country. On the night, Roberson joined the movie’s other leading ladies by rocking a creation from the fashion duo’s recent collection, The Black Swan. Hitting theatres next Friday, Love by Chance also features Denise Zimba and Nicholas Nkuna. Vaughn arrived in South Africa to promote the film on Sunday night. She will be in the country until tomorrow.
