Ajax need a pretty four out of four

Marksman hopeful of surviving the axe

Ajax Cape Town must accumulate at least four points from four remaining Absa Premiership matches to guarantee safety from relegation.

This is the view of Urban Warriors veteran striker Nathan Paulse ahead of Ajax crucial clash against Chippa United at Sisa Dukashe Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

“At the moment we are not in a good position in the log standings, but we are positive that we will do well in our remaining games. I think one win and a draw can put us in a better place because we believe that we will not be relegated,” Paulse told Sowetan.

“But if you watched our last game [a 2-0 win over Platinum Stars last week] you could see that now we are playing very well and we are committed to help the team return to good form. We are high in confidence because we have been encouraging each other to keep on fighting.”

The 35-year-old marksman acknowledged that playing Chippa United, who are five points behind Ajax, will be a trickier affair as the relegation battle heats up.

“Our remaining games will not be easy. We are playing against the teams that are almost in a similar situation as us. The one against Chippa will be interesting because they have a new coach [Mbuyiselo Sambu who is a caretaker coach] who still wants to stamp his authority after taking over from the previous coach [Dan Malesela].”

A week after battling the Chilli Boys, Ajax host another struggling side in the form of Bloemfontein Celtic at Athlone Stadium. They face Orlando Pirates and Baroka in their last two fixtures.
